Booker Teliferrio Howze

Booker T. Howze is a professional artist living in Durham, North Carolina. Born in Charleston, WV in 1964, he moved to Cleveland, Ohio with his parents at the age of 3 and lived in Cleveland for 10 years before returning back to West Virginia.

He studied art at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh where he received his Associates in Art Degree, and Kent State University, where he received his Bachelors of Fine Arts.

For the past 18 years, he has worked as a Patent Illustrator, Graphic Designer, Publications Coordinator and operated his own Graphic Design Business. He has created illustrations and designs for advertisements, annual reports, directories and editorials. Some of his customers have included Buckeye Dog Food, Aquatech, Inc., Tinks, Inc., Infocision Management, Lorain County Visitors Bureau, American Vision Magazine, Aerospace Design and Fabrication and Curan and Connors. A passionate artist, he is concentrating exclusively on his painting.

As a child, Booker was encouraged to draw by his teachers and family. Growing up, he enjoyed viewing the sketch books and pencil drawings of his cousin Wyatt Tolliver. One of his most memorable events was receiving a drawing set for Christmas that taught him how to draw objects in perspective and animals by using shapes.

At the youthful age of 14, his older brother encouraged him to enter a drawing contest presented by National Record Mart. Apprehensive at the start, he agreed to enter the contest and won second place. This was the turning point that directed him to a career in art.

Booker currently displays and sells his work through art shows, festivals, exhibitions, commissions and catalogs. He is currently represented by Eye Candy Gallery in Cleveland, Ohio. A passionate artist and painter, he plainly states “I simply enjoy the arts and view my work as a colorful book of life's inspirations A Lifetime of Joy!”
